We think the best way to experience the Far North is on a Spitsbergen cruise. Spitsbergen is the largest island in Norway's Svalbard archipelago and it offers the best opportunities to see polar bears in breathtaking Arctic scenery. As we cruise along the pack ice, you are likely to see bears swimming between ice floes, ambling through backdrops of rugged mountains and glaciers and, on lucky occasions, nursing their young.
But polar bears are only one of the many Arctic wildlife species you are likely to see on a trip to Spitsbergen. Walruses, Arctic foxes, Svalbard reindeer, Minke and humpback whales, and several species of seals (bearded, harp and ringed) and seabirds (dovekies, northern fulmars, Arctic terns and Atlantic puffins to name a few) all are commonly seen both from our ships' decks and when we go ashore in Zodiac inflatable boats.
Spitsbergen gives you a wonderful variety of scenery as well, from expansive glaciers to soaring coastal mountains to delicate wildflowers. Every day offers something different and exciting when you're in Spitsbergen!
